My Very Own Library
My Very Own Library
My Very Own Library (MVOL) was founded in 2011 by Ms. Anne Feeley in partnership with the Foundation for Newark's Future.

My Very Own Library (MVOL) encourages and supports students' love of reading by providing them the opportunity to choose brand new, free books to build their own home libraries. MVOL is rooted in research indicating that students foster a life-long love of reading and demonstrate stronger literacy skills as they build home libraries. MVOL is a comprehensive literacy program that could be replicated in other schools and communities.

Key components of the My Very Own Library program model include: Book fairs, free books, family literacy events, author visits, community engagement, and additional literacy resources.

My Very Own Library is proudly supported by the family of Anne Feeley, Foundation for Newark's Future, Scholastic Book Fairs, Making Waves Foundation, and the DREAM project.

During the 2014-2015 school year, My Very Own Library programs support more than 17,000 students in Newark, NJ, Richmond, CA, and the Dominican Republic.
